Location, Location, Location!

The Vintage is situated right in the heart of St Andrew's quiet Conservation Area. Located down a narrow Wynd, it is surrounded by large gardens and historic houses but is a mere 2 minute walk from the R&A, a 4 minute walk from the beach and 5 minute walk from the shopping streets.

Getting to The Vintage From Edinburgh Airport

By Car:
Leave the airport and cross several round abouts. Turn right onto Glasgow Road/A8 direction Glasgow/M8/M9.

At Newbridge Roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the M9 and merge onto the motorway. Take the second exit (junction 1a) onto the A8000, following directions towards the Forth Road Bridge.

Merge onto the A90, following directions for the Forth Road Bridge. Cross the Forth Road Bridge (£1 toll). After the bridge, the road becomes the M90.

Stay on the M90, and exit at Junction 8/St Andrews onto the A91.

Stay on the A91 all the way to St Andrews, driving through Burnside, Auchtermuchty, Bow of Fife, Cupar and Guardbridge. St Andrews is clearly sign posted all the way.

To find the Vintage, cross straight over the first roundabout at the entrance of town and drive through the old gates. The road turns slightly to the right and goes uphill. Cross over the second roundabout (white paint circle), and then take the first on your left (Golf Place, leading towards the R&A and the sea). Then, take the first on your right onto The Scores. Parking here is free.

Gillespie Wynd is on the left, after the 2nd tree on The Scores. Follow the Wynd as it turns left. The Vintage (#5) is at the end to your left (green door).

If you don't get lost, the entire journey should take about 1.10 hr. Remember to drive on the left!

By Train:
Exit the airport and take the Airlink (X100) bus service to Edinbrugh City Centre (£3 single, £5 return). Stay on the bus until it terminates at Waverely Station. A large ramp on the other side of the road takes you underground into the station.

There is no station in St Andrews. The closest station is in Leuchars. Ask any member of staff for help. The platform from which the train leaves is variable, but the train which stops in Leuchars is usually the Aberdeen service. There's usually a service at least once an hour, and costs approx £11 single, £17 return. The journey takes about 1hr 15min.

Once at Leuchars, there are plenty of taxis to St Andrews (10 min away). There is also a bus service - the Taylink 99 service. If you get on the bus, make sure it is heading to St Andrews, and not Dundee (wrong direction). The bus will stop at the main bus station in St Andrews.

From the bus station, turn left down the road. At the roundabout, turn right and walk up Ellice Place (becomes North Street). Cross the street and walk past the road leading to the sea (Golf Place), past the Dunvegan pub. Gillespie Wynd is about 150 yards on your left. If you walk past a golf shop and Harbour House cafe, you've gone too far. Walk down the alley way, follow it round to the right. #5 is then immediately on your left (green door).
